Portrait of Juan Carlos Cabale

Juan Carlos Cabale

Camagüey, Cuba · Author furniture

Juan Carlos Cabale has worked with wood for more than three decades. He learned on his own, in the workshop, before any school — reading, observing, building. That self-taught origin left him with a way of working that remains intact: every piece is conceived from the material and from the body that will use it, not from a drawing.

Luxury asserts itself by restraint.

His work moves between two sensibilities that, in his hands, stop opposing each other: modernist clean lines and measured proportions, and the craft of detail — marquetry, local woods, painted finishes. Chairs, rocking chairs, chests, secretaries, tables — a body of work built piece by piece, over decades, without rush.

Pending: specific list of awards and exhibitions.

Cabalē Grupo Creativo gathers his work and makes it available to those who would live with it.
